Understand the coverage that comes with your coating
We want you to understand your warranty and know how to reach us if your floor needs attention. Here is how coverage works for coating systems installed by Cornerstone Hard Surface Restoration.
Coverage at a glance
- Qualifying owner-occupied residential epoxy flake and GRANIFLEX systems: one year of labor and material coverage, followed by limited lifetime workmanship coverage for repair labor only. After the first year, the customer pays for repair materials.
- Other residential coating systems, including interior grind-and-seal: one year of labor and material coverage.
- Commercial, industrial, business-use, and rental-property coating systems: one year of labor and material coverage.
- GRANIFLEX moisture-related coating failures: evaluated case by case and eligible only when caused by improper preparation or application by Cornerstone. Covered first-year repairs include labor and materials. For qualifying owner-occupied residential GRANIFLEX only, approved repairs after the first year cover labor only, with customer-paid materials and the cumulative repair-area limit below. Epoxy flake and other coatings exclude moisture-related damage unless separately agreed in writing.
“Qualifying residential systems” means full-broadcast epoxy flake systems and GRANIFLEX systems installed by Cornerstone Hard Surface Restoration at an owner-occupied residence, with the original purchaser continuing to own and reside at the property. Both systems receive the limited lifetime workmanship coverage described below. The special case-by-case moisture review applies only to GRANIFLEX. Rental properties receive one-year coverage only.
These warranties cover qualifying defects, subject to the conditions and exclusions below. They do not promise that a surface will never wear, scratch, stain, or need maintenance.
This warranty applies to our concrete coating systems. Cleaning, natural stone restoration, tile and grout repairs, and other services have their own applicable service terms.
What the first year covers
For one year from substantial completion of installation, we cover defects in our application and installation workmanship and defects in the coating materials we supply, subject to the conditions and exclusions below. GRANIFLEX moisture-related coating failures are evaluated individually and are eligible only when caused by improper preparation or application by Cornerstone, as explained below. Epoxy flake and other coatings exclude moisture-related damage, including during the first year, unless separate coverage is agreed in writing by Cornerstone.
When a covered defect requires repair, we provide the labor and materials needed to repair, recoat, or replace the affected portion of the coating system. Coverage applies to the system’s intended use.
Residential epoxy flake and GRANIFLEX: limited lifetime workmanship coverage
After the first year, qualifying residential epoxy flake and GRANIFLEX systems receive limited lifetime coverage for peeling or delamination directly caused by our installation workmanship.
For a covered repair after the first year:
- Cornerstone provides the repair labor at no charge.
- The customer is responsible for all materials needed for the repair.
- Coverage is limited to affected areas, with a cumulative maximum of 3,000 square feet of total repaired area under the lifetime extension for the original warranted installation. Each repair counts toward that total, including repeat repairs to the same area. This cap applies to repairs after the first year, not to first-year coverage.
- A repair does not restart or extend the warranty or reset the cumulative repair-area limit.
This lifetime coverage does not cover material aging, manufacturer-related product issues, ordinary wear, or cosmetic changes. Epoxy flake moisture-related failure is excluded unless separate coverage is agreed in writing by Cornerstone. Only qualifying residential GRANIFLEX moisture-related coating failures caused by improper preparation or application by Cornerstone are eligible for the case-by-case coverage described below; approval is not automatic. Approved GRANIFLEX moisture-related repairs after the first year cover labor only, with customer-paid materials, and count toward the same cumulative 3,000-square-foot repair-area limit for the original warranted installation.
The limited lifetime extension applies only to the original purchaser while that purchaser owns and resides at the property. For this extension, “lifetime” means that period of ownership and residency. The extension ends when the property is sold, transferred, conveyed, or leased, or when the original purchaser no longer resides there. Rental properties are excluded from the lifetime extension; they receive the one-year coverage described below.
Other residential coatings
Residential coating systems other than qualifying epoxy flake and GRANIFLEX systems receive one year of labor and material coverage. This includes interior grind-and-seal systems. These other systems do not receive the limited lifetime workmanship extension.
Commercial, business-use, and rental-property coatings
Commercial, industrial, business-use, and rental-property installations receive one year of labor and material coverage from substantial completion. Rental properties are treated as business-use properties for warranty purposes. This one-year coverage applies to epoxy flake, GRANIFLEX, and other coating systems installed at these properties.
Coverage applies to the original purchaser and includes qualifying installation and supplied-material defects under the system’s intended use, subject to the exclusions below. Commercial, business-use, and rental-property installations do not receive lifetime coverage.
Outdoor use and GRANIFLEX-only moisture review
We use GRANIFLEX as a decorative concrete coating for outdoor applications, not with a promise to waterproof a property, keep water out, or prevent flooding. Performance depends on the specified system, the condition of the concrete underneath, and proper installation.
For GRANIFLEX, moisture-related coating failures are eligible for warranty consideration only when caused by improper preparation or application by Cornerstone. Water transmission alone, without a covered application failure, is excluded. Loss of adhesion or concrete separating with the coating will be inspected to determine the cause; neither condition alone establishes responsibility. Approved repairs follow the applicable first-year or lifetime labor-only terms below.
If a moisture-related concern appears in a GRANIFLEX installation during the first year, contact us before repairs are made. If we confirm a covered preparation or application failure, first-year coverage provides repair labor and materials under the terms above. A supplied-material defect alone does not qualify for this moisture exception. Evaluation alone does not promise coverage. Commercial, business-use, and rental-property GRANIFLEX installations receive this first-year review only; they do not receive a lifetime extension.
Moisture-related concerns may involve moisture vapor transmission, hydrostatic pressure, elevated moisture within the concrete, water entering through slabs or surrounding structures, leaks, flooding, condensation, humidity, or standing water. These conditions do not automatically qualify for GRANIFLEX coverage. For epoxy flake and all other coatings, moisture-related damage is excluded unless separate coverage is agreed in writing by Cornerstone; the GRANIFLEX case-by-case provision does not apply. Peeling, bubbling, blistering, delamination, discoloration, or deterioration alone does not establish the cause or confirm coverage.
After the first year, only moisture-related coating failures involving qualifying owner-occupied residential GRANIFLEX systems and caused by improper preparation or application by Cornerstone are eligible for case-by-case coverage. Cornerstone must approve coverage in writing before a moisture-related repair is covered. Approved repairs provide labor only; the customer pays for all repair materials. These repairs count toward the same cumulative 3,000-square-foot repair-area limit for the original warranted installation, including repeat repairs to the same area. This review process does not promise approval, extend coverage to every cause of damage, or guarantee against water intrusion, leaks, flooding, or waterproofing failure.
Care and conditions that are not covered
Please follow the care and maintenance instructions provided for your system. Improper cleaning or maintenance can damage a coating and affect coverage for the resulting damage.
Moisture-related damage is excluded for epoxy flake and other coatings unless separate coverage is agreed in writing by Cornerstone. For GRANIFLEX, only moisture-related coating failures caused by improper preparation or application by Cornerstone are eligible for the case-by-case coverage described above.
The warranty does not cover damage or deterioration caused by:
- Normal wear, abrasion, scratching, scuffing, impact, or tire wear
- Staining, chemical exposure, or unsuitable cleaning products
- Misuse, neglect, or use outside the system’s intended application
- Moving furniture, appliances, equipment, or other heavy objects
- Cracked, shifting, settling, deteriorating, or otherwise defective concrete
- Repairs or alterations by others that cause damage to the coating
- Fire, flooding, storms, accidents, or other conditions outside our control
Fading, yellowing, discoloration, gloss changes, and ordinary cosmetic aging are also excluded.
How to request warranty help
Contact us in writing within 30 days of discovering a possible defect.
Email: contact@cornerstonehsr.com
Phone: 251-232-2195
Please include your name, installation address, a description of the concern, and photos if available.
Give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the surface before someone else repairs it. Missing the written-notice deadline or preventing an inspection may affect coverage.
After inspection, we will explain whether the condition qualifies and the proposed next step. For a covered claim, Cornerstone will determine whether to repair, recoat, or replace the affected portion.
Repairs are generally limited to affected areas. A complete replacement is required only when Cornerstone determines it is reasonably necessary to address the covered condition. Because coatings age and material batches can vary, repaired areas may not match the original color, texture, gloss, or flake blend exactly.
Support beyond your warranty
If your floor develops a chip, ding, or another concern that falls outside warranty coverage, reach out. We can assess it and discuss the options.
Depending on the issue, a small repair may involve little or no charge. That is assessed case by case, rather than automatic free repair coverage. We will discuss any cost with you before proceeding.
We want you to feel comfortable asking for help and understand your options.
